No food is permitted within the library reading room or stacks, or in ACCEL. Drinks are permitted only in covered containers. The Library appreciates everyone's cooperation with the Food and Drink Policy.
Quiet Policy - Quiet Study first come-first served carrels in Stacks 1, 2, 3 and Basement.
- Quiet Conversation Only in first floor reading room. Please be considerate of others and keep your cell phone conversations quiet and brief. Please use the lobby for socializing. Your colleagues thank you!
Laptop and Equipment Loan Policy -
4 hour loan -
no reservations and no renewals -
overdue fine is 4 cents per minute -
borrower may be charged up to $2500 for replacement or repair charges if not returned on time or in damaged condition. Group Study Rooms -
The two group study rooms are available on a first-come first-served basis. There are no reservations. -
Use of the rooms is limited to groups (more than 2 individauls). -
Personal belongings left unattended for 15 minutes will be removed by Library staff. Leaving belongings to "reserve" the room is not allowed. -
No food or uncovered beverages are permitted in any library space, including the group study rooms. -
The rooms are not soundproof, please keep loud noises and conversations to a minimum. Gift Policy - The Engineering Library at Cornell University welcomes donations of books, journals, videos and CDs which support the instructional and research needs of students and faculty and enhance the strength of the collection of the Engineering Library. If you are interested in making a donation or a gift, please contact Steve Rockey, email swr1@cornell.edu or telephone (607) 255-5268.
- We request that you send us a list of the items you wish to donate: for example, for books -- author, title and date, and for journals -- title, volumes, and years. This will enable us to determine the usefulness of these items for our collection.
- Appraisal for tax purposes is the responsibility of the donor. All gifts over $5000 must be appraised by a qualified appraiser in order to claim a tax deduction. Gifts are accepted with the understanding that they become the property of Cornell University Library, and that the Library may then make all necessary decisions as to their retention, discard, sale or exchange. Posting Notices in the library - A bulletin board is available for posting notices about library, College of Engineering, or CIT (Cornell Information Technologies) sponsored events. Submit your flyer to the front desk staff if you are unsure if your flyer fits this criteria. Posters are not permitted on doors or other surfaces.
Lockers -
Lockers are available for rent to any current Cornell student, faculty or staff member by the semester or academic year ($10 per semester or $18 per academic year). Please contact the Service Desk for details about locker availability and rental information (255-5933 or engranswers@cornell.edu). -
Lockers must be cleaned out at the end of the rental period. Please do not store food, including drinks and candy, in the Library lockers. Library materials may be stored in the locker as long as they have been properly charged out. Please do not share your locker combination. Library staff can open them at any time to check for food, stashed library items and damage. The library is not liable for lost or missing property in the library, including the lockers. The locker combinations will be changed the day after the rental expiration date and any remaining contents will be taken to the Lost and Found at Barton Hall (255-7197). |
