The Engineering Library supports the research and teaching of the College of Engineering by teaching sessions in library research and helping individuals locate all types of information.

Consultations

One-on-one consultations are available to help users with their research needs. Help is available in the Engineering Library in person, via email (engrref@cornell.edu), by phone (607-255-5935) or via Chat (librarians from other Cornell libraries may answer Chat calls).

Ask a Librarian: [email][chat][phone]

Class Bibliographies and How-to Guides - for handouts on finding patents, standards, technical reports, and links to bibliographies for specific classes (such as EngrG 150, ChemE 462, EngrComm 350, and EngrI 127). Reference librarians give customized presentations in library research, which are designed to fit the specific information needs of the course and teach students how to conduct research effectively.

Databases by Discipline (INSPEC, GeoRef, Web of Science, IEEE xplore...)

Engineering Research Guides (applied and engineering physics, biological engineering, chemical and molecular engineering, civil and environmental engineering, electrical and computer engineering, etc.)

MyContents - receive tables of contents of journals via email through the service called MyLibrary.

Technical Reports - the Engineering Library (and Library Annex) house an extensive microfiche collection of government-sponsored research, development, and engineering reports. Since 1978 the library has received nearly all documents from several United States government agencies, including the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the Environmental Protection Agency. There are reader/printers available for viewing and printing these documents, and they may be requested from the Library Annex.
